Tao Semko UMAA Tantra Tip: Ki Breathing

"Breathe out so that your breath travels infinitely to the ends of the Universe, breathe in so that your breath reaches your one point and continues infinitely there. Ki breathing is an important way of unifying mind and body.

At night when all is quiet and calm, do this alone, and you will feel that you are the Universe and that the Universe is you. It will lead you to the supreme ecstasy of being one with the Universe. At this moment the life power that is rightfully yours is fully activated."

-- Koichi Tohei Sensei, Aikido Grandmaster after Ueshiba...

Ki is the Japanese word for what the Chinese call "Qi" ("chi"), Hindu yoga calls "Prana," and Judaism calls "Ruach." Ki is the breath energy of both the individual and of the universe itself...

Try the above breath meditation for yourself for 21 days... you'll be surprised at the results...

Smile, breathe right, and keep your tongue up!

What is the BEST WAY TO TRAIN??

The best way to train is to use what is immediately available for you:

Fresh Air, Trees, grass, concrete, stairs.

You do not need a dojo or "mats" or a heavy bag or a focus mitt.

All you need it your body, and your mind to work together.

Start by doing lots of SLOW repitition of any combative motion with breath connected to the movement. Shadow box all your martial arts skills with slow cordinated movements much like a flower dance or tai chi. Hit the Earth and start moving in low postures.

Also imagine being attacked from all angles both standing, sitting, kneeling, and laying down. Deal with the attacks slowly but with full intent. Practice strikes, take downs, evading, decoy, strategy, Imagine dealing also with weapons.

No mater what stay close to the Earth.

BREATH DEEP and learn to manage the breath. Also when moving hands away from body exhale when moving them in towards body inhale. Keep it smooth.

Make sure mind & body move together.

Do this daily at least 5 min a day if you can do an hour even better! I am sure when you go back to training with partners you will know exactly how to move with proper breath & alignment. Even if you only know one move practice that one move. Better to have one move that you have done 1,000 times than 1,000 moves you never practice.

Just ask these bad boys how they train to be as killer and as strong as they do. I am sure it ain't mcdojo or LA FITNESS. They move naturally and they trust their instincts.

The teacher....

Photobucket

Gurus, Sifus, Senseis

If you have a good teacher he or she only cares about one thing,  making you better and wanting to see you become better all around not just in your "martial arts class".

I have come around many who have skill either as fighters or teachers or both but few are actually really good guides who can really make a difference in their students life and still have fighting and teaching skill.

If your teacher just sees you as another number or dollar sign most likely you are not getting the proper education you are looking for in the MA world.  If your teacher at every class is making sure you are doing something better or corrects bad habits or leaves you with something to take home and work on  that is the teacher you keep.

Its a 2 way street.  Without teacher there is no student without student there is no teacher.  Both learn from each other on some level.

Key is to be "open" enough to understand what the lessons are and make the changes needed to keep growing.

If you are a teacher and you find yourself where your students are getting very good and in some cases better than you, its your job and responsibility to point them in the best direction for them and also encourage them to start teaching if that is their path.  a lot of time the ego gets the most out of most teachers.  But one has to be honest and say does this person have it?  If so what can I do to make them even better even if that means i must send them to a better teacher if i can not make them any better?  How can I get them to that "have it" stage if they are not there yet?  All in its due time of course. But one thing i hate hearing about is teachers taking advantage of their students, seniors, etc and a teacher not allowing their best to leave the nest.  That causes damage in nature and guess what it does the same thing in the dojo, keun kendang etc.

I honor and respect all my teachers.  They all taught me something. It was either how to be or how not to be.  So either way they all taught valuable lessons.

Peace

"Learn to Hurt'em & Heal'em" - Soke Glenn J Morris

If you understand how to heal you can be even more creative in knowing how to best dish out pain.

Dr. Morris was one of the best I ever met at the ability to actually do hands on healing & also deliver pain.  He was a true Martial arts Internal master. He joked that he was a "Hobbyist" but he really knew his business in IMA.  He is truly missed.

I remember he beat the crap out of me as he taught me with a stick on my kidneys.  Afterwards he simply did some Hoshin Tao chi kung healing with his hands much like reiki and sure enough all pain & bruising went away immediately.

To learn to heal research Chi Kung, Reiki, TCM, Accupuncture, massage therapy.
