CGSS Pencak Silat Long distance training prt 3

Q & A

  1. How you will we learn Silat with CGSS LONG DISTANCE PROGRAM? You will learn silat by watching video clips sent to you in a private message either on Facebook or Email. Also you can interact with the instructor via skype or on the phone. Students are required to video tape themselves performing the weekly material that is sent to them either review, guidance and corrections by the Instructor. You can train all this stuff alone using "shadow Boxing". It is recommended that you get a training partner who also enrolls in the long distance training program and you both work out together learning the material. You will use your outline so you see more or less what is in the "ART" but in reality each thing in the outline is an art and science with in itself with loads of information.
  2. How long before we can test for rank? As the instructor sees your progress he will let you know when you are ready for ranking. Family based systems are not like "commercial dojo" black belt clubs etc. Even though we make silat commercially available to you, you must put in your time and train before you are considered by the instructor to take rank. The same goes for progressing to the levels of Junior Instructor & Senior Instructor & Full Instructor. More details will be posted on "ranking in CGSS". In the mean time you want to focus on your personal training of each weekly lesson. Get GOOD 1st then we will talk about RANK. Rank & Certificates are useless if you do not know the material and you can not use it properly.
  3. Will we learn Many techniques? No you will learn solid basics, principles and concepts that will allow you to have thousands of techniques if you choose to have them. We do not focus on technique instead we learn the martial science and principles. Each Week you work on one or two concepts or principles or aspects of your CGSS outline. The outline is not in any set ORDER instead the art is learned from all aspects & angles one step at a time. So its more like a circular experience than a "linear" one found in most common martial arts schools and systems. Remember SILAT has ALWAYS been a "CLOSED DOOR" system and it will remain truly a "Closed Door System" . So you will learn it as if you where learning it in person how I was taught by my Gurus and how I teach my personal local students.
  4. Am I allowed to Post my CGSS videos in Public? NO you are not allowed to post them in private or in public any where on the world wide web. If you do you will be kicked out of CGSS Perminantly.
  5. Am I allowed to Share the videos with my friends? Would you steal from your Mother & Father? Silat is a Family System lets keep it that way and honor the tradition and path you are about to walk on. If your friends wants to learn what you are doing encourage them to register and pay for the material. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars and put in 12 years + in to learning this art. I have travelled all over the USA and Abroad to train with the BEST to accuire this knowledge I will share with you and I will gladly share it from my heart but you must follow the rules and respect the Guru's wishes and the traditions with in SILAT. If you respect the art and its teachers they in turn will reveal even more to you. All in due time : )
  6. Does Age matter? You must be of 18 years of age and you can train even in your 90's ! as long as your physician says its ok.
  7. Do I need any special gear or equiptment? I recommend you get 3lb dumb bells, and 2x 5lb kettle bells & 2 x10lb kettle bells. We use these a lot in personal training and cimande conditioning. Also we recommend a good wobble board to train on the best we have found is the dr. Changos (google it you will find it). You will need a nice TREE to work with for conditioning a steel pole will do. Also I recommend you get some therapuetic stretch bands or chords. Also it is recommended to do your jurus (forms) in a pool of in water where you can swim more details will be given on this subject in video lessons. In Cimande its very common to train immersed in Water.
  8. Will i be able to compete with Silat in the RING? No Silat is not a SPORT its Lethal and very Dangerous. You will however learn to Survive in Life. Silat is not about fighting its about survival and preservation of Life.
  9. How do receive "RANK" in CGSS. when the instructor feels you are ready to advance in RANK you will take a video test. Being a annual CGSS member you do not have any "testing" fees.
  10. How do I become an instructor? You must come train with your instructor in person at least 1x a year. And when your instructor feels you are ready you will be given a chance to test for rank and for Instructorship in CGSS.
  11. When will I be able to start a TRAINING GROUP. After you have learned the basics in the 1st phase. All phases will be posted up soon. More info to come soon. : )

Peace & God Bless

Remember that what you see below is not "curriculum" but more of an outline that is not in any particular order but instead its all the pieces to a big pie or puzzle. Each "item" in the outline is an "Art & Science" on its own. Phases will be posted soon. KEEP TRAINING!
